The Challenge

For this École Multimédia project, the task was to redesign the Picasso Museum website to better serve contemporary digital audiences. Museum websites often struggle to balance rich cultural content with usability—overwhelming visitors with dense information while failing to inspire them to actually visit. The redesign needed to showcase Picasso’s work beautifully while making practical visitor information accessible.

The Solution

Created a clean, modern website design that puts Picasso’s artwork front and center. Large, high-quality images of key works anchor each page, while minimalist typography and generous whitespace let the art breathe. The information architecture was restructured to prioritize visitor needs—exhibition schedules, ticket purchasing, and location details—while still providing depth for art enthusiasts through artist bios, curatorial notes, and collection exploration.

Creative Approach

The design language draws subtle inspiration from Picasso’s own artistic periods—bold color blocks referencing Cubist compositions, geometric layouts that echo his abstract forms, and typography that feels both modern and timeless. Navigation is intuitive and visual, using large image-driven menus that preview content rather than hiding it behind text links. The mobile experience was designed first, recognizing that many museum visitors research on-the-go.

The Impact

The project demonstrated strong UI/UX design skills and an understanding of how cultural institutions can leverage digital platforms to serve diverse audiences. The redesign successfully balanced aesthetic ambition with practical functionality, proving the ability to create websites that honor their subject matter while prioritizing user experience.
